Disposition: 

Quiet: More of an observer, Ain rarely speaks unless spoken to first, often wearing a gentle smile and standing in the back of a crowd with his arms folded over his chest. When he is inclined to speak, it's usually only a sentence or two. On occasion he may make a sarcastic quip or playful jest at someone, though this is typically only seen when he's in good company. 

Anxious: As an angel who has very recently become more "human", Ain has a very difficult time understanding these newfangled "emotions" that a vast majority of sentient creatures experience. As new feelings pop up, he struggles to put some of them into words, and others he may only be able to identify because he's seen them in people around him. Oftentimes when Ain experiences a strong emotion, he'll inquire as to if it's "normal" to feel a certain way about a situation. The world is, after all, more confusing when one experiences it from the perspective of an everyday person and not as an emissary of a Goddess he no longer follows. This confusion and the newness of it all leads Ain to be quite anxious about himself, mostly, and he seems to have it in his head that there's a "right" way to feel things.

Enigmatic: Though he typically wears a friendly-looking smile, Ain's facial expressions can often be difficult to parse beyond that. He's extremely poor at showing emotions outwardly, and would prefer to keep it that way — except, of course, to check and make sure that he's doing this "human thing" correctly. It's difficult to tell what's going on in Ain's head at any one moment otherwise, as he's not the type to voice his feelings on a whim, or even when prompted. It's much, much easier to wear a smile, even in the face of strife.

Protective: When he finds someone he likes, Ain becomes undyingly loyal to that person and extremely protective of them to boot. This protectiveness can sometimes manifest in the form of recklessly endangering himself by doing what he thinks is the "right decision" at the time. He has some self-preservation instincts, but if he had to choose his life over that of a friend, he'd chose the friend every time. Ain will happily throw himself to the wolves if it means those dear to him will prosper. He has learnt over time that perhaps this isn't always the best course of action because people care for him, which is a baffling new concept he's still trying to wrap his head around. He'll get there eventually. Probably. 

Silly: Though not quite in the way one would think. Ain is known for giving everyone he meets a nickname of some sort, regardless of his social standing with them. He never addresses anyone by the name they've actually given him, instead picking his own "apt name" for them based on their background or a notable trait they have. This can be either endearing, annoying, or something in-between, depending.

Under pressure: Ain is used to being under pressure. After all, he's been on a team of people dedicated to saving the world from utter destruction for the last five years. However, Ain functions better when he's with others that he knows, and doesn't react well to feelings of solitude and isolation. While he may latch onto others, he hardly expects them to latch onto him in kind. This may lead to difficulties with Synchrony due mostly to Ain's anxiety, as he is still very much used to being the angel that values others rather than someone who is valued. In addition to this, intimacy is never something that's at the forefront of his mind, so to call him oblivious to anything in that sphere is an understatement. 

Condition upon arrival: Ain is physically healthy and fighting-fit. Mentally, he is extremely unsettled and trying his best to hide it, as he's entered an unfamiliar world without his normal companions at his side. 

Abilities:

Spiritualism: Ain's more "angelic" form. In this form, he is weightless and is able to float upon the air. Being in this form slightly augments his magic, but it is tiring to maintain; he will shift back to his regular human-esque form within a few minutes.

Pendulum: Ain carries around a pendulum which he draws in combat. The pendulum itself, however, is never used as a weapon, and functions as a rather decorative arcane focus.


Magic: When using his magic, three tri-coloured balls of light float around him, known as the Edel Eids or "Eids" for short. Each Eid has its own effect that can change the spells Ain casts to his specifications. In particular: 

♦Mut (Red Eid): Augments Ain's magic, making his attacks hit harder.
♦Rein (Yellow Eid): Gives Ain's magic regenerative properties, making him able to heal. This healing is extremely limited in that it can only heal physical injuries, and slowly at that; it cannot regenerate lost body parts, cure illnesses or diseases, or revive the dead. 
♦Wille (Blue Eid): Increases the attack range of Ain's magic while also being able to sometimes slow the enemy down with ice magic. These two effects are not stackable with one another. When in combat, Ain often prefers to use Wille's slowing abilities.
Much of Ain's magic can be described as "area of effect" spells. Ain is definitely more of a "support caster" than someone who would be seen on the front lines, and does rather poorly in hand-to-hand combat.

Notes: It is nigh-impossible for someone to tell that Ain is an angel by looks alone, as he doesn't sport wings or traditional angelic features. He looks entirely human save for when he enters his Spiritualism form. That being said, he's not keen to let onto the fact that he's an angel either. I go into more detail about him and his abilities here.
